I agree with all of this, apart from point 11. Partly because anything “new” will crave your attention, especially if you’re trying to form an opinion of it (although I know it isn’t everyone’s job to have an opinion of things) or if it isn’t something you’re familiarly with, it’s likely the shifts and changes may disrupt your concentration. And probably it has lyrics (hearing words + thinking words + typing words = bad idea), and possibly isn’t soothing (although I’m sure the rise of sleepy chillwave music, is directly related to how inoffensive it is to working at a desk).
And yeah, all of this is sort of why I made this productivity-assisting music for office workers playlist. One of the most popular playlists I’ve ever made (although the subscriber numbers don’t reflect the amount of retweets and “likes” that it had). Also made this follow-up, but it isn’t as wordless as the original.
