Challenge 1: Visualize The Data →
Goto http://recordlabellove.com for more info…
For our first developer/hacker challenge, we’re tasking you with making sense of the huge volume of data we’ve compiled from the PIAS-distributed independent labels affected by the SonyDADC fire.
We’re looking for you to help make sense of the scale of this fire by visualising, mapping and/or creating a much more interactive version of the stats.
HOW TO ENTER
To submit your entry, upload it to the web and send it to us in a tweet which includes @recordlabellove and the hashtag #labellove.Closing date for this challenge is Friday 2nd September at 5pm GMT. At this time we’ll reveal challenge number two, involving various API’s to create discovery tools and web/mobile apps for music fans.
Please note: If you’re not a whizz with graphic design or data-hacking tools, you can still get involved using free services like Visual.ly. Or why not get out a pen, some paper and your camera…?
PRIZES
Yes, there will be some prizes involved (we’ll contact some labels you love for you + publish the winning images on Drowned in Sound and The Guardian) and we’re inviting some very special guest judges to help pick the most interesting, most interactive and most beautiful visualizations of the data.P.S. Follow the link above for more information via The Guardian’s datablog and an alternative download of the data. Plus further information about data visualization.
